I placed an advertisement for a roommate on craigs list and I got a response as follows:

I am nicholas  wiltord and i would like to get your place for my
daughter who is coming down there to continue her educational career.
I am an artist and i do carve and paint art works and we live here in
florida .My daughter just finished her course in Banking and Finance
with the last Session and would like to travel down there  to secure
her Master degree.She's a very nice girl and from a very good and
devoted home cuz we are a god fearing family so you don't have to be
worried about her behaviour .I would like to know if the environment
is serened and secured enough for a girl of her age(24) as far as
security is concerned,I also would like you to get back to me with the
last asking price so that we both can further on how i can get the
deposit forwarded to you.

First, I was very suspitious when I was asked to get back to him with the last asking price.  I was very clear in my advertisement as to what the rent was and what the security deposit was.  Secondly I was very clear to ask that "roommate" be put in the subject line since there is so much spam and phishing on craigs list.  Feeling a little uneasy I searched out the number and found all of your comments and thought I would add mine.  

Needless to say, I won't be responding!

This number is linked to a craiglist listing asking for a painter. I've tried calling, but it directs me to a generic voicemail.

Hey this number is also being used by a "Duane Carter" on Craigslist in Pittsburgh, PA.  He is looking for a caregiver for his elderly grandmother.  He states that he and his so called wife are in France and wants to send me a check with my first week pay ($600.00) AND excess funds  to go to his "travel agent" to move his grandmother to Pittsburgh!!!!!  Have been going along with this and NEVER answers anything questions regarding his grandmother or where they will be living!!!!  TOTAL SCAM!!!!  Please feel free to email at:  [email protected] you!!!!  He also is using a "Yahoo" email address!!!

this person is also using this number on craigslist looking for a nanny. Said client will send check to me for 500 dollars and Im to give rest to travel agent to fly his daughter to Houston.  Requesting lots of information to mail check. using the name [email protected], claims is working in Daytona florida.
Also answered another similar add on craigs list in houston, looking for house cleaner.  Claimed that he was working out of the Us for last six months, but plans to return to his apt at end of month.  Wants apt ready upon his return.  Again client will mail me a check for 600 dollars and again extra money, which I will be giving to his gardian, which he claims is a female from other country and has no account to cash check. I'm to give her the rest of the money, in order so that she can buy cleaning supplies and to live on.  He is using the name scott davis.
