This number belonged to my friend's father -- I think it was his cell number in Florida. He passed away several years ago, so it was a big shock to her to see his name and this number flash up on her cell phone this morning in Oregon.

Is there a way to find out the carrier company, to ask if the old phone is still in use somehow, or if it was turned in and the number was reassigned? (She thinks her step-siblings might have kept the phone, but I can't imagine they'd pay a deceased person's phone bill for three years?! Altho' I guess if it was prepaid and not subscription, it would still work?)

Any thoughts welcome: it's a real puzzler.
