This is the 3rd time I've received a call from this number, which also shows "Providence RI" in my caller id. When they hear my answering machine, they hang up. I returned the call out of curiosity (with my caller id blocked so that I could not be identified) and heard a recorded message in a female voice that explained apologetically that she was "sorry but all of our representatives are tied up at the moment", and asked me to select a menu option (which I did not). Bye bye forever -- I've blocked you permanently.
I've been getting the same thing. A call that leaves nothing when my machine picks up, or I get nothing when I answer. Some have said that this type of call is a service verifying that your number is a working number so that they can then sell it to others. All I know is I'm tired of having my phone ring at 9:15 every Saturday, the only day I get to sleep in. Verizon says that due to my location (island), they can't do a block service.
