A good reply I've used in the past is, "I'm only renting this place." Another good one is, "The owner isn't here right now."
One time a chimney sweep insisted that I needed his service. I told him that I did not have a chimney. The smart [***] asks, "Then how do you heat your home?" I told him that I have electric heat. There was SILENCE!
I have been submitting complaints for over two years to the FCC whenever I received unsolicted, ILLEGAL, telemarketing calls, and based on the fact that the same "companies" continue to harass me, complaining doesn't do any good! What a joke. DNC list? Unenforceable (or at least they're unwilling to enforce it.)
I received a call from 401-401-1234 and the caller ID said Rhode Island. I will be vacationing in that area soon, so i was worried about my reservations! The caller actually got my teenage son first, and by the time I got to the phone, they hung up - thank goodness!!! I hope they don't call back! I'm so glad I check the internet before returning "their" call!
