They send out links from people you are 'friends' with in an effort to get you to click on the link. a portion of the link looks legit, but it will activate once you click on it and infect your smartphone and then VERY bad things will start to happen. You will then become the source for the next round of fake "invites" that go out to all of YOUR facebook friends.
It also asks to install an app from the iTunes site - but that isn't the legit site - just a faked log in screen. They are trying to obtain your iTunes log in and password. Enter it and you'll probably find yourself charged for a lot of items you never bought/downloaded.
Just delete it. If your "friend" really sent it - they'll usually tell you first.
Biggest clue this is a scam is the FAKED SMS number that this came from. If it's not one of your REAL friends SMS (phone) numbers - you can bet your life that some scammer is trying to rip you off.
