Received a call from this number on July 1st at 10:43AM Unknown caller.  The recorded message stated that this is the IRS and we are filing a Lawsuit against you. You must call this number immediately. I posted a YouTube Video on my channel Best of Cyndi to inform consumers about the IRS SCAM ALERT and these criminals are using several different numbers across the states. The IRS does not contact you via recording so do not fall victim to these SCAM ARTIST!

I received a call from this number a few times from a computer synthesized voice, but ignored it.  Today, I received a call from (202) 851-0020 from Washington DC.  This person (a real person) calling identified himself as a Robert Gavin, from the IRS, asking for me specifically.  Went I picked up, he advised me an arrest warrant has been issued against me by the IRS and that I will be arrested immediately.  I was shocked and I asked why?   He said they found errors on my IRS filing and since I did not respond to them in the past couple of months, this call is my final warning.  I said I only received some suspicious calls beginning a couple of days ago.  He said they mailed documents to me on May 2nd and June 3rd.  I said I didn't receive anything from the IRS.  He said he has verified it with the Post Office that the audit notices were delivered to my address.  I said what address did he send it too, and get this, he does know my address.

He said that the case against me is strong and that I would be imprisoned with fines of up to 35k.  I said is there anything I could do to postpone the arrest?  He said no.  I said, I just want to know why I am being arrested.  He said it was all in the documents they sent me (that I did not receive).  I then pleaded with him and asked if there's anything at all I could do right now.  He then sent me to his "supervisor."  Oh, and throughout the phone call, he said I am being recorded and I would need to be completely truthful with him.  Asked me about previous arrests and traffic violations, and how much I had currently in the bank etc.  Scary right?

Fortunately, as I spoke to his supervisor, I searched on the internet for IRS scams.  It stated that the IRS would never ask for payment over the phone to settle any IRS issues.  I kept that in the back of my mind as I spoke with his supervisor.  After a few minutes with the Supervisor, apparently, he said that due to my clean record, and that I was being honest with him, they'll allow me to make a payment today (but it had to be within the hour) to clear my record with the IRS.  This will prevent further charges and penalties, including immediate arrest.

The fine against me was over 10k, but I told them I did not have the money.  They then asked how much I had, so I told them honestly, I don't have much at all and wouldn't be able to make the payment... also that my credit card is max.   Fortunately, with that response, I was able to clear my "IRS" record.
