The call from 401-946-1270 on my cell phone was re credit card....something....I disconnected the call at this point....stupid of me to even answer my cell unless I see who it is or know the number....was careless and didn't look!!
My cell phone rang this morning, I said "hello", and realized it was an automated message telling me that I was receiving this call regarding my credit card services and to please hit key #1 to be connected. I was curious about what it was as I was sure it was a scam call (I don't have any credit cards). When I hit #1, a man came on the line and said "good day", and I said "who is this calling me", and the man changed the tone of his voice to a high-pitched whine, and said back to me "WHO IS CALLING ME" and then he immediately hung up. I hit redial and only got a busy signal. I hate getting scam calls on my cell phone.
This is obviously a phishing scheme. I got the same call with the same general thing. Press 1 to reduce CC rates to 6.9, etc. I figure, what the hell. I know it's a scam, but maybe I can have some fun. The man on the other end was polite, eloquent, and well-versed in what he was doing. This man had practiced. He tried to say that he could help reduce percentage rate while I pay off my card, citing recent legislative laws that have been passed. He almost had me convinced, except I never have a balance to pay off.
I would mention that I've been called by this "company" twice now. Once from New York (914) 268-6314 and once from Rhode Island (401) 946-1270. Chances are he's rerouting his calls so that he isn't traced. He'll probably call back from another state tomorrow.
Pissed - I had to give Chase my cell phone number for fraud alerts - they promised it would only be used for that purpose (yeah right - I know they were lying) Got a call from "credit card services" on my cell, and worse yet, I am getting ready for work and the call comes in at 7:46 AM - I would not have answered it but I had my glasses off and before 8 am you got to think the ba$tards are not working yet.
