I got the exact same basic inquiry for a window I was selling online. I said cash only please, and she said she was out of cash and so she'd use a cashier's check, which makes no sense.
I posted a sofa & queen ann chair for sale on craigslist and I received several text messages..the person said she wanted to purchase the sofa & chair for the sale price of $150.00 ..."but" due to her busy schedule her shipping agent would be handling everything. I texted her back and told her I would only take cash and will give a receipt and she was responsible for picking up the sofa. I am thinking this is a scam because who would purcahse what I have for sale for $150 and pay an agent to handle shipping and everything..especially liveing in Nebraska & I am in Illinois..."crazy"??.They probably think they can scam me into taking a cashiers check or money order..who knows! I'm not falling for it!!! Buyers "beware" just as well as "sellers' need to beware of scams!
You're very smart to not fall for this scam. They would have sent you a fake check for more than you ask for and they would have ordered you to wire the difference to them.
