I received a call from this number in North Omaha, claiming to be a collection agency, collecting on a bank account from a bank I've never even heard of. Said I owed $1000. Said it was from 1999. I hung up on the guy after repeatingly explaining to him I did NOT owe that, but yet he wanted to argue with me. My husband called him back and he changed his story and told my husband it was a credit card......I'VE NEVER HAD A CREDIT CARD! I never got one because then REAL collection agencies would be calling and I like my nice high credit score. :) When my husband asked who their company lawyer was, the guy hung up on my husband. My cell phone has a 850 prefix and that was the first red flag for me.......What professional company, especially collection agencies, call from cell phones?
1. Never heard of that bank and never had an account with them.
2. Why are you calling for the first time in 14 years?
3. In 1999, I was single and pregnant and my mom made me move in with her. I spent no money.
4. And the BIGGEST reason I know it was a scam is........I OPENED MY FIRST ACCOUNT EVER IN 2001 WITH MY HUSBAND! :)
