Just got a call, rang three times then hung up. Chicago area. I did just have an MRI at Northshore Hospital BUT....in Evanston, IL, not Nebraska so I would never pick up this # or assume it was affiliated with the hospital.
Here's a novel idea for the Gov., FCC...whoever..... look at all the changes our phones/computers even TVs have gone thru and all the privacy info and issues WE have had to cough up and change in the last year...how about making phone ID screens tell the REAL true data of the caller and not just some short punctuated code. How about the Name, and address and # of the caller if it is a business? Wouldn't this at least let us know who wants our time and cut down on these bogus fraudsters?
I agree with many on this, whoever is calling always calls a the wrong time, never leaving a message. So I never know what they want. If it is to fill out a survey, maybe I really don't have time.

A little background - This hospital system includes Skokie Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Evanston Hospital, HIghland Park Hospital - all in Illinois. They merged this year, or are in the process of merging, with Lutheran General Hospital (Des Plaines, Il) who had several computers stolen last year which contained everyone's information - all of it - SS#s, names, birth dates, insurance information. Lutheran General Hospital had to offer everyone a free year of Identity Theft Service due to this. If you have doctors at both hospitals, they can view your records but are really not "one" system yet - they are still working on it as it is a massive undertaking.
While I do go to doctors at the Northshore Hospital System - a LOT of them - these calls just started last week. They are relentless. I am getting 5-6 a day. They ring and hang up and never leave a message. The ID says "Professional Re"
My thought is - I don't see why they would be calling to see how you like your visit when they mail you an After Care survey in the regular mail. They are not getting rid of doctors, firing doctors, or anything like that - in fact three of my doctors left because it's such a mess and the whole health care system has turned into such a mess.
If this truly is North Shore Hospitals seeing how things are going, this is now a massive, and I mean almost Monopoly-Size merger of two giant hospital systems in this area. I'm suspicious that they'd be calling to see how your visit went. They just have too many ways to report this or give them feedback and they are like ant farms now. You're lucky if you get to talk to your doctor for 8 minutes now before you're thrown out the door. It's not as if this is going to change.
I think there is something else going on here, and asking how your visit went and details of it is a direct violation of the HIPPA laws and your privacy. If it's a paper survey like the one you get in the mail, it's anonymous if you send it back. You don't put your name on it unless you want to. Some survey company that is NOT directly "the" hospital would not be delegated by the hospitals to survey people. They would not have been given access to your records, that you saw a doctor, that you had a medical issue, they you were even there. This is private information.

This is the scumbag who used to spam the nation claiming to have a carpet cleaning business. Now he's scamming people by collecting their medical information, pretending to be from Northshore hospital which is undgoing a massive change as they are merging with another massive hospital system in Illinois right now (which is part of the Mayo Hospital system). The computer systems/records systems are being integrated and so there really isn't one right now - it is all being put into one new one. There is NO survey. There is NO company doing doctor surveys. This person is taking advantage of the fact that the 2 main, mammoth hospital systems in the chicago area have merged and are leaving their individual computerized and logistics systems and merging into one database, which will take a few years. They are building and adding on to several of the hospitals in a billion+ dollar revamp. They are not caring what doctor, whoc have all been there doing what they have been doing for ages at their hospitals, are doing. That is not changing. Everyone is where they are, still doing what they are doing. Every patient is sent home with a survery and every hospital visit is followed up by a hospital care technician who calls on a Hospital Caller ID ( I do this for a living)
This is a scam - do NOT answer any questions. They are phishing to complete patient profiles to steal your ID to use for health care by creating bogus patient records (yours) when someone Illegal goes to the doctor or ER and has "your records"
This might be North Shore Hospitals but what a pain in the [***] this is, and I am going to find out who to call to report them to.
This morning at 11 am I actually did have an appointment at one of the hospitals, with a new doctor. Prior to the appointment, I got 11 (yes 11) calls over the past week reminding me of this appointment and asking me to Press 1 to confirm (which I did) or they'd leave a message on my answering machine. Yet this wasn't enough, not even if I said I'd be there. I also signed up for IM reminders on my cell. I am fine with this. However, in this last week I got 19 (yes 19) IMs telling me I had a message and to go sign in to my North Shore "page" and view my new message (this page is a mess. I don't know WHAT new message I have, as this is also where you can view all your test results of the past, your upcoming appointments, message your doctors, look up your prescription info, request refills, etc.)
I got home from my doctor appointment today at 1 pm. I already had 3 calls from this number, leaving no message. I have been home for 3.5 hours and they have now just called 6 more times. I picked it up the last 2 times and no one was there.
I like the doctor, and it is my biz if I'm going to see him again. I did not agree to take a part in these surveys, and they are more annoying then when Walgreens used to call 40 times if you merely dared to buy a toothbrush at their store and then they wanted to know how it all went for you.
This is harassment. Even if this is legit, they have no right to call and IM and bury you and there seems to be no way to Opt Out. I don't know how I Opted IN but I don't need the phone ringning constantly. Between myself and my family, we go to doctors in this system about 12 times a month (we have two very ill children who are under treatment with specialists as well as an elderly adult) How do we stop this ?
