I've gotten numerous calls from this number. A few days ago I decided to call back with my number blocked. The woman who answered called me by my first name! I hung up and tried again a few hours later, thinking maybe I hadn't blocked my number correctly. It happened again. Apparently you cannot even block your number when calling these people. Scary. I informed her that I am on the Do Not Call list and they need to stop calling my number. So far I haven't had any more, but we'll see.
Offered 40 dollars in free gas vouchers. Needed to confirm address...transfered me to cofirmatinon department. Confirmed address then found out that apparently, from just that, they are able to charge my visa card one dollar for the first month, 29 dollars thereafter for a savings club or some nonsence, that can be canceled at any time. So I immediately gave them a unequivocal NO... essentially a cacellation before it started. We'll see what happens.
These folks started calling my cell phone about a week ago, perhaps once a day. I did not answer because I didn't recognize the number. Plus, I vaguely remembered that area code 402 was for Omaha, Lincoln or Tulsa, and since I don't have any business relationships in that vicinity, family or friends, I assumed it might either be a bill collector a telemarketer.
Today these folks have called me a half dozen times, approximately every two hours. They never leave a voice mail message, and they haven't in the past. That tells me they're probably not bill collectors because they'll usually leave a threatening or disguised voice mail of some sort. Telemarketers tend to just hang up.
sgr07 (above): Thank you so much for the tip about the shenanigans they're trying to pull. Now, I guess I will either answer and give them a firm NO, or I will just hope they go away.
They just called back again (that's the 7th time today).
I immediately told the young woman on the phone - before she even had a chance to tell me about whatever "offer" she was trying to pitch - that these unwelcome phone calls needed to cease immediately.
She rapidly told me that she'd add me to the company's internal do-not-call list. Then, she rattled off an 800-number too fast for me to catch of a parent company to call if I still received calls. Then, she hung up.
Keeping my fingers crossed that these folks don't call again.
