I have been receiving calls from this number 404-201-6957 for the last few days. I always delete the call when it shows up. My daughter who works for AT&T told me that it was not one of their numbers. She said to report it as soon as possible. .

You're right about "Wow"; he / she / it IS a TM--likely for some scummy "3rd party" team; oh, and they're NO LONGER asking if you want to upgrade to their most expensive service---they're sternly warning you to.....or face POSSIBLE "service disruption".
Relax folks, this is their tired bogus "shakedown mode" sales tactic. Here's what "Wow" and 3rd party crew don't want you to know: The service disruption WON'T happen as they forewarn. Why? Because they can't---unless you get suckered into their "shakedown" and agree to PAY MORE for their coveted "U-verse" crap tie in with fellow 3rd party subsidiaries attached to their new merger buddy, DirectTV.
So they KNOW if you call their bluff---and they mass disconnect all those MILLIONS of DSL customers---they're only shooting themselves in the foot; from there, they PRAY you subscribe to DirectTV satellite Internet---which is the close clone to AT&T's 3rd party subsidiary that fronts the crappy U-verse system ( that really serves to suck out MORE $$ from existant DSL customers ).
Their worst case scenario? Angry disconnected DSL customers will flood competing ISP and/or satellite ISP services---all just waiting with LOWER rates than those attached to U-verse and DirecTV. So you can imagine the epic fail if U-verse / DirecTV don't con AT&T customers....and both DISH ( a-hemmmmm.......!! ) out serious profit losses; a merger plan backfires, big time.
I pray "Wow" doesn't procreate and spawn off others like him / her / it.
Because it's sourced from there---and it's been "spoofed" to appear sourced from other areas---THREE locations of which recently, were OVERSEAS; something 'Wow' failed ( understandably ) to mention. This is the scummy underside of this 3rd party merger, between AT&T ( U-verse ) and DirecTV--which evidently after 3 years in the works--isn't coming off as planned; explains why callers from 404-201-6957 are heavy with the scare tactics ( their desperate "Plan B" approach ).
Well, I'm calling 'Wow's' bluff---and I'm fully ready to switch services---so IF AT&T / DirecTV want to LOSE BILLION$, me and MILLIONS other DSL customers are also fully ready to address their threats.
So I challenge 'Wow' to go ahead.....and make MY day; so the TM troll doesn't believe me.....and I'm itching to show him I'm serious......and I'm NOT alone.
Wow would be wise to pour through the job classifieds for a new career. Oh....and watch the stock markets for AT&T / DirecTV---especially when the F.C.C. marches in with Federal warrants for audits of both merging companies; they can cover-up---but NEVER that good at it.
Customer calls to the REAL AT&T are "monitored for customer assurance" ( tapped to ensure customers NEVER get told the truth ); however, IF you're lucky to speak to a genuine good / honest AT&T employee---one offering clever between-the-line hints--you'll get an idea into the truth.

Several years ago, AT&T contractually entangled with this "3rd party team" that owns / operates the U-verse TV / ISP service; AT&T spent BILLIONS into the partnership.
U-verse service was touted as being the "evolutionary future" of Internet service far exceeding top shelf DSL services---available anywhere in the home, PC's ( laptop and/or desktop )--EVEN smartphones and Bluetooth / Wi-Fi equipped automobiles!! However, despite the cool buzzy whiz-bang overhyped TV commercials for U-verse......the project never really reaped in the profits hoped for.
So, to boost sales--U-verse opened up that annoying call center ( 404-201-6957 )--where callers ASKED if AT&T DSL customers would consider paying more for U-verse TV / ISP; that approach didn't work out any better.
AT&T and U-verse spent BILLIONS marrying DirecTV ( dumping DishNetwork in the process---you gotta love the cut-throat political dynamics behind these corporate interactions ) ; "ATT" call center employees are now sternly using the desperate "scare shakedown" tactics, hoping to force AT&T DSL customers to hastily buy into the U-verse TV / ISP service!!!
Note: "ATT" / U-verse callers carefully say you "probably face service disruptions"---with cleverly stated veiled deceptive inferences your DSL service will be terminated.
Which it won't---because IF they're really stupid to do that---then people like me are simply ready to take my business to DishNetwork Internet---or anybody else BUT DirecTV; talk about an epic corporate meltdown MERGER FAILURE for AT&T / DirecTV then!!! LMFAO!!
So now you know the truth AT&T / U-verse / DirecTV would rather you didn't know.
Oh, you know DishNetwork and other ISP services competeting against are just hoping and praying AT&T / DirecTV get full throttle stupid and make good on their threats; for the record---I'm ready to give DishNetwork my ISP business, if it comes to that.
