I get a call practically every day from this number in Atlanta. I'm in New Jersey and have no ties to Atlanta. Generally I just let it go to voice mail (which they never do). Scam?? Today I answered and told them "I don't who the hell you are but stop calling me." To which I got a "You have a nice day too.". I called the number back and received a message saying that it is a Tele Arts Center. While I am a patron of the arts I haven't been in Atlanta in decades. What tele-marketing god did I provoke?
as Ed above. But I didn't answer and called back from a landline. I got an OGM from Arts TeleCenter requesting my info so they could call back. This may be NJPAC using an Atlanta caller. I took a call like this 6-8months back for ticket sales from NJPAC, where the caller worked for some ATL arts center, as though a sister-org-shared call-center resource. Just a guess.. Under this explanation a moderately well targeted telemarketer, rather than a random anno.yance
It's from the Alliance Theater in Atlanta. I went there once with my small kid for a play 2 years ago and they call me every 6 months I believe. Also they call from different numbers because it doesn't matter if I block their number, I still receive the call from a new one.
Of course, they are asking for donations. While this should probably work in 1990 (?), I don't think it's a good approach nowadays. I get really annoyed to receive a strange phone call in my personal cell phone during "family hours", asking for my credit card information so I can donate. I'd never give my credit card info to someone strange over the phone. That'd be extremely naive of me, and I think it's naive of them to do business like this. It's almost like trying to give a kid a candy and saying "hey I'm good but you shouldn't accept candy from other strangers ok"?
