They called my husband today saying he owed over $2000 to US Bank...a debt that was settled about 8 months ago. The caller gave the company name of HFS and said her name was "Ms. Smith".
Coincidentally, my husband just did a credit report request via ScoreSense yesterday. Makes me wonder if the two companies have some scam going on between them.
Wow and at first I thought maybe the X wife left something hanging out there, but seen this from you all that I'm not alone. One more scam to add to the pile...
They have been calling my mother and myself saying that my niece was going into arbitration if she didn't respond by the end of the day. My niece called the number and said she owed $750.00 to US Bank and she needed to send $250.00 right away. My niece said she has never dealt with US Bank and if they would send her the paperwork, she would look it over. They told my niece they didn't have any paperwork. Big time scam. Beware!
I recievd a call from theese idiots today saying I too owed us bank $2500.00 I di owe them $426.00 but paid that off years ago. I tol the "investigator"that I was absolutly sure any respectable financial institution would not let "overdraft fees" reach that ammount or any ammount close to that. I also told her ?I dont know where your from but where I ive what you did is a felony its called impersonating a officer of the law.do not call my boss and tell his you are issuing a warrant for my arrest again"
Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "assessment specialists", "detectives", "investigators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists". They are sweaty double-talking criminals with a script full of coercive remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.
