Got call on my cell phone from this number. It's a scam. Recording says press 1 to have your credit card debts eliminated due to card issuers violating the Fair Credit Act. I played along and pressed 1. Guy with a heavy West Asian accent started reading a script about how he could eliminate debt on Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, etc. Could hear lots of other similar sounding accents in the background -- one guy shouted "Credit Card !" in a heavy accent ---( I had mental picture of some hot, smoky sweat shop in Mumbai or Bangalore with a bunch of these miscreants sitting around scamming people). He said Credit Card companies were violating the FFCRA and his 'system' showed that I had been paying a little more than my minimum and that he could offer a program to see if I qualified, to eliminate the debt. I continued to string this Thief along..... . He asked what my balance was on my American Express card -- I asked him what his 'system' showed as the balance, since he said that it was showing my accounts. He dodged this question and went into a long spiel about how this was not a new card offer, or a debt consolidation, but would eliminate the debts. And, that he just needed a little more information, and then his supervisor could "approve me" for the program. (Yea! I'll get to talk with another one of the Thieves higher up in their crime ring !) ...... Then asked for the expiration date on my card, so he could check my last statement (he still didn't have my card number), so I gave him the expiration date. He then asked for my card number and I told him I didn't have my wallet with me - -that I was not at home and out for a walk (with my cell phone), and that it was at home. He said when will you have it ? (I love how these bozos get excited when they think they have an unsuspecting victim on the phone), and I told him I'd be home in an hour or so I acted all interested . He then said he would call me back in an hour ---and I said great ! Asked him his name, so I'd know it was him calling back, and he gave me some western name, like Mike Smith or something similar --( Yeah, right Rohit,) -- I get the biggest kick out of these idiots trying to pass themselves off as Americans --- I love wasting their time, when I'm not busy. I also like to ask them where they are calling from, and they usually say Dallas, Chicago, New York or some other big city they know the name of -- then I'll tell them I have a sister that lives there -- what part of town do you live in !? And, they stumble and don't have an answer, because they don't know anything about the city they say they're in..... then I ask them some other questions --- like how do you think the Mets will do this year, or how about those Bears ? Sometimes they try and fake it, and other times they get frustrated and hang up --- but it's fun to do, and by wasting their time, I'm depriving them of the opportunity to try and rip off someone else -- maybe someone who actually gives them their CC number, and then gets fleeced. SO..... BEWARE -- THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND THIEVES --
They have also used these other numbers recently as well -- same group of Clowns -- different number, but all with 404-358 in the number -- 404-358-1590 and 229-358-1438 and 229-358-1440. Hope this helps someone --
