Our toll free number got phished over the weekend and hundreds of people were getting text messaging from our number and then told their credit card would be terminated if they did not call another 404 382 9582 and submit more info. I had more than 400 calls posted on the toll number yesterday. Comcast could not help, ATT could not help. FTC was minimal. They then referred me to Ca. Dept. of Justice and the phone tree only gives info on mortgages. ATT was able to put a recording on the toll number to stop the calls but there seems to be no way in the technology driven world to get protection for the people themselves getting scammed. I even called the credit card company Direct Express which processes thousands of deposits for social security. Go figure
The incoming call came from 800-300-4400. Goggling this number takes you to HealthShack, a company in California that helps store medical information. The number the text asked me to call back - Direct Express Notice at 404-382-9582, is, of course, in Atlanta. SCAMMERS!
