I got a call from a person claiming to be with the Georgia Firefighters Association. They have called before. They use psychological tactics to get a person to donate or pledge. If you pledge they send you a big mail box stuffer and call you back and use guilt tactics similar to a mob collections agent. I don't know if they are legit or not. I told them to take me off their list.
Yeah they need to re-evaluate their telemarketing methods. I did a search on them and found them and nothing was mentioned about donations. They generally use intimidating Alpha-males who walk the line of rudeness and are a total shame to the way they represent the sacrifices our Ga. Fire Fighters have made. They try to solicit money and talk your ear off...you try to be nice and say not now....but they will not take no for an answer. They then want you to pledge 10, 20 dollars and you do so just to get them off the phone. Then you get this big envelope in a few weeks since you pledged. They call back and hound the hell out of you. They use an Atlanta number that is used by other telemarketers/scammers. I'm not saying not to donate but their bullying methods are unsound ... like the above person said...something you would expect from a mob collections agent. They do not use bad language but are EXTREMELY HIGH PRESSURE!!!!
Yeah ya can't be nice and reason with them. I wonder how much of the money they get actually pilfers down to Firefighters injured in the line of duty? You just cannot be nice with these people on the phone. When you say, "Thanks, I'm not interested," they just ratchet up the pressure. If you hang up they will wait a couple of months and call back. They keep a, "Rap Sheet," on each person. When they call they will revert to the last contact with you and what was said. They also call just before Holidays. Who are these people? Are they legit? I think I will call a News Network and see if I can get an investigative team to interview them about their harassing telemarketing tactics.
