Received the creepy tail end of this voicemail from 2 different numbers late last week, then today got the following:
"In reference to criminal law suit file against you your case number is 887-6295 the moment you receive this message. I need you or your retained attorney of records to return the call the issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My phone number is 404-437-6000 510 do not disregard this message and do redo our end the call now if you don't return the call, and I don't hear from your attorney either then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck as the situation totally unfolds on you. Goodbye."
I assume it's a debt collector, but I've also seen this number reported as a scam/spam call, so I'm not sure.
it is definitely a scam. a famous one. the same message is sent to millions of people each day....using thousands of different numbers. The IRS will NEVER contact you in this way. In fact....no one legitimately making a claim against you will contact you in this way. Don't ever exchange personal or financial info over the phone or computer unless you know exactly who is on the other end
I received same spam call yesterday, from a different number.
Lawsuit filed against you. Your case number is 887-6295. The moment you receive this message I need you or your retained attorney of records to return the call.
