Someone from this number called me yesterday, also claiming they were from "Applied Credit Services." They claimed that I opened a Visa credit card through Applied Bank in 2008 and that I now owe $5,000 on it. When I told the lady that I don't have a Visa credit card and that I had never heard of Applied Bank, she screamed into the phone that when I decided to "grow up and face facts" then they would talk to me, threatened to take me to court, and hung up on me. I called the number back again and a male answered. I told him my name and that I needed to know what this was all about. He told me that I am lying about my identity and that they will not speak to me about anything. He hung up on me as well. So I called back a third time and got a man who claimed his name was Thomas Jones. He volunteered information about the supposed account and wanted me to make a payment over the phone and even offered to reduce the amount by half. He asked me if my birthday was a certain date...way, way off by more than 40 years.
This number called, saying they were from "Applied Credit Services." They said my husband (who is deceased) had a personal account with them. I knew of no such account. When I told them he had died, they asked if his birthday was a certain date - and it was WAY off - by 20 years. Some sort of a scam!
