The IRS telephone scam is getting absurd!! FIRST CALL: 3/23/16 11:44 am recorded message from 202-888-3102 that "IRS had claim against me and I should call," with "Washington, DC" recorded on my ID. SECOND CALL: That afternoon 6:24 pm recorded threatening message from 206-201-2785 that "IRS had filed suit and I should call," with only calling telephone number recording on my ID. THIRD CALL: Next morning 3/24/16 11:44 am recorded message from 404-790-1702 again saying "IRS had claim against me and I should call to resolve," with only their telephone recorded on my ID. Am Retired and have no problems with IRS and have received nothing in writing from IRS to indicate any problem. Obviously, the phony IRS scammers now have a wide-spread and well-established network so BEWARE.
Quite easily actually, you're not required to answer your phone in any manner. Try letting unknown numbers ring with NO kind of answer and be patient. Callers can't do much with numbers that have nothing at all and get tired of wasting time calling them. They call who answers, but lose interest in those who don't.
