I also received a call from a Susan James on a debt paid over 20 years ago (the bank couldn't even find a record of any debt). Threatened me with a federal lawsuit (illegal, btw - only if you owe the Fed Govt money). She mentioned Ascend United, which specifically goes after Credit Union debts (google them). Her number was 888-444-8847 - can't find in google. CallerID was 999-456-1111 (which is invalid number but Google lists the White House!). Today I got a call from a "Robert Watson" from the same number.
Person called claiming that a lawsuit would be entered in federal court against me for unpaid account 26000541489001, the person claimed to b a susan james, attorney...and that they would prefer to settle the matter outside of court....Did not know my middle name, correct address and inquired for my last 4 of social security....
