Don't return the call. This William Blair (or whatever he calls himself) has a long history of debt scamming on 800notes. He engages in bullying and threatening and pretending he is in law enforcement. He often says he is going to arrest you if you don't pay a real or imagined debt. He does not work iwth any governmental agency. He (or someone using the name) is strictly a debt scammer . Being in debt is not a crime and you can't be arrested for it.
This guy doesn't work for any state or public agency.
Don't talk to him. Don't return the calls. Blcok the calls. If he has a valid debt against you tell him to send you a debt validation letter by US mail. E mail no good. No debt validation letter, no money. Period. Of course he won't send you anything.
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the [***] are working out of now.
