Got a call 2 weeks ago from a Ms Williams from Brewton Law Firm saying that I had written a bad check for $24.46 back in 1998. this account has been closed for a year prior to that 1997 and the checks were reported stolen. I was told that I needed to pay $279.00 today or I would be arrested and would have to pay incurred fees of $1379. They have called back several times and I have blocked the number.

Got another call today from a Cindy Sinclaire stating that she would file with the courts on dec 12th and that I would be arrested and that the judge would decide my punishment that it would go against my driver license and my ss#. blocked call again,. total scam

I got same type call today from a similar number,Marlena at Brewton Law Firm. These people are scammers! I don't have and never have had a bad check. I don't answer but they leave messages. Can't block, they just change numbers!

Got a voicemail from this number today stating that I needed to call Sandy Sinclair back from some law firm regarding a transaction and that I would be able to settle this debt out of court now otherwise I was obligated to attend a Schedule 4 hearing on December 29th (6 days away) and if I did not comply it could result in a warrant for my arrest. After reading other reports on this # I figured it was a scam. You can't just be summoned to court so quickly without any legal paperwork or official notice. Don't fall for it....

Got a call today from 404-937-3040. The woman claimed to be with a law firm in Georgia. She stated there were 3 bad checks written by me or my wife to different businesses back in 2007 that were bad. In almost 40 years of banking & writing checks we have never written a bad one...never. She was hateful & arrogant to say the least. She wanted to settle out of court right now. I asked for the so-called companies making the claim and the check numbers that were "supposed" to be bad. She came back with places we don't even do business with, & check numbers that do not match any records for the year of 2007. I can easily go back 15 or more years for every check written. She said she would see me in court next week & that she would definitely be there. I asked if she wanted our sheriff's name & gave it to her before she replied. I then asked if she would like his cell number being as I know him very well. She hung up! This is a SCAM, don't give any information to these people or fall for their empty threats!

I looked up the above given name of Brewton Law. It appears this is pretty new given the complaints filed here and the BBB file opened: 09/19/2014. They must be registered as a debt collector same as a debt collection agency's and also must be licensed in all states to collect in those states as well. Here's the info I was able to locate on this supposed law firm.
