just got a call from this number, Carl Tripp, said he was looking for a coworker of mine (he called my work number) I told him she was out of the office today but could take a message or put him over to her voicemail. He said he wanted to leave a message and that message was that if she didnt call him back today he would put a pick-up order out for her with the local county sherriff's office for check fraud. He then asked my name and title and said he would put in his report that he spoke to me and insinuated that if she didnt call him I too would be in some kind of trouble. I passed on the message but she's not calling him, said he's just a bill collector and legally isnt supposed to threatent jail or anything of the sort. She's not one to be bullied...especially by someone over the phone calling from Atlanta Georgia when we live in Oklahoma.
Who are these people? They is very annoying and wanting to threaten me about potential fraud. But what is so scarry is that they have my personal information.

Just got a voice mail to my cell phone from a Carl Tripp, I'm sure that's not his real name. My son once used my cell number as a contact for himself many years ago on a payday loan when he was in the Army. He paid the loan but his information has been sold many times to these criminals that pose as debt collectors. Once they get your info, they just keep selling it to others. If you're reading this and are scared you might be arrested or something, don't be. These people break so many laws in there methods that if it were possible to trace them and sue them, they would go broke paying the fines and possibly serve jail time themselves. I'm about to call the Atlanta area FBI office and see if we can trace this number to a land line. If so, he will be hearing from law enforcement soon. If any of these types of people call you, try to trace and have prosecuted or at less report to the authorities. They are banking on the fact that most people just let it go.
Just an update to my above post. I reported the call and sent digital copies of the voice mails to the http://consumer.georgia.gov/consumer-services/filing-a-complaint division. For the online form you need an address. I found this one on another complaint site,

I let them hit my voice mail and then used my computer microphone to record it to wav format. Then to make the size smaller, I converted the wav file to mp3 format. You need to provide proof for these sorts of calls because they are so unbelievably illegal that most authorities will not believe you when you contact them about the call. The recorded voice mails tell your story for you. I will now continue to the FTC to their complaint division and possibly the FBI. Then I will try to recover anything due to me through their violations of the Fair Debt act.
i have been recieving the same calls from dte they claim i have a outstand check with fox interptrizes and are going to throw me in jail over it. the statue of limitations in my state is four years ago so why am i being threatned 7 years from the date they said i placed the fraudulant check? Furthermore ive only had a checking account for 4 years so how could it be i placed a bad cgeck with no account hummmmmm my attorney said scam file a police report which i did and faxed to them and it only made the calls happen more often how do you stop this
