Received a call during dinner. Caller asked for my husband. The caller identified himself as Investigator Lockhart and said my husband was being investigated for fraud. I pretended to write down this gentleman's phone number and our "case number".  When I asked him to repeat his last name he said, "Lockhart", I then asked for his first name and he paused and said, "Investigator!"  I promptly hung up the phone.  We have no debt and we have a zero balance on our credit card.  If this gentleman
calls again I WILL call the proper authorities and report his number to the police/FBI. The call originated from Georgia and I could hear other gentlemen in the background giving the same threat to other innocent people.

Yeah, these people are a-holes. Even if you do have a debt, don't acknowledge it to them. Some debts don't start over and legally they cannot bother you for it.

Make sure you get your three free credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com. You get one free each year from the Big Three. If you've never done this, I suggest getting one one month, contest anything you deem inaccurate; get the second a month after the contested info from the first one is resolved & contest anything on the second one; and then do the third a month after anything on the second one is resolved. Then a year after the first free one you obtained, get that again. Wait four months, get the second one; wait four more months, get the third. That way, it's all spaced out. You do PAY EXTRA for a FICO score but don't get that unless you're going for a mortgage. Make sure you have printer and paper to print a hardcopy on the initial AND if/when your disputes are resolved.

And, it's very important to remember: your FREE report is only available via annualcreditreport.com. All the other websites will charge you. DON'T access the credit report site directly - they'll want credit card numbers, etc. You can create a log-on account with them that is free.

Just got a call from Investigator Fox saying that here was a warrant being issued for my daughter.  I asked wh state and county and got no response except that there isa warrant.  I informed him that I am law enforcement and would be happy  serv the warrant if he would fax a copy to my office.  He hung up and will nowbe reported to state Attorney General.

Received a phone call from this number for my husband. We weren't at home but left a message on our voice mail. Saying he was Investigator Trevo (sp?) with William Scott & Associates and this isn't in any way a sales call or solicitation call. He was saying that my husband was listed as a personal reference on on a case (gave case number) for a person on check fraud charges and that it was important that either my husband calls him back or he gets the message to the person that he was actually trying to get ahold of and to tell them to get their lawyer to contact him ASAP. He gave a different number to call back then what was shown on the callerID. They actually called twice, one was just music playing on the voice mail like you were on hold and then the second time is when he actually left a message. I doubt hubby will relay the information nor will he pick up the phone especially if he doesn't recognize the number.
