I've been getting these calls since 2010. I've reported it to everyone under the sun. Here's the problem. They mask the number they are calling from, which is why when you call back you get out of service or other messages. They are a total scam. They have called my cell, my work, my family and friends. I had to show my employer and family warnings on the internet so they would understand I am a victim not a deadbeat or wanted criminal.
They try to get around the FDCP by saying it is about criminal charges for committing fraud. But of course if you are willing to pay them, they will make it all magically go away. Sooo annoying!!!
I get this call all the time ~ I told them last time to bring it on and I would be happy to meet them in court. They hung up and then started calling family members, told them I was wanted for fraud and that they needed payment or they would have not choice than to press charges. Of course, they said they would not pay but that is still scary for a friend or family member to get that type of call and it looks bad upon me. I would love to know how to take them to court and get them for defamation of character. Ugggg ~ Any and all suggestions would be fabulous.
Automated message - keep doing this they do not even have my name correct. Say I will be being served papers at my house or work for a complaint against me and my SSN. They are calling me every 2 to 3 weeks after I block all their phone numbers - 8 last time. The cycle starts all over. No one ever shows up. Really wish they would stop.
Got called twice. both women did not give me their names. Wanted me to verify with my social security number. Told them by law I do not have to give them my soc. The First Lady I told her to send me a debt validation letter (her reply was "I do not have to send you a validation anything"so I told her to go ahead and process and hung up on her. ) the second said " so you refuse to give your social?" I told her yes I refuse. "Then we will proceed, have a good day" and hung up on me. Any reputable company will send the validation letter.
