Got a call, let the machine get it, some guy just saying "Hello?" I'm guessing a telemarketer, as he didn't ask for me by name, suggesting he didn't know it. He also left no call back information, suggesting that it was not a legitimate business interest.
Just got a call from 405-233-3033. I only answered because I have relatives in the 405 area code.
After a long pause someone with a heavy accent said my name. I hung up. Like Steve, I googled the number and it's from Arcadia, OK. Probably a telemarketer.
Person calling knew my name, said they were soliciting donations for the Sheriff department for special causes. So now, it's the Highway patrol, Local Police, and now Sheriff Dept's asking for tax payers to donate more money for special programs.
Unknown to most people, the solicitors are not volunteers. Their services of solicitation are paid for and by the time these "special programs" get YOUR money, it's about 3 cents on the dollar.
Got a call from a private line almost exactly one hour prior, no message, then this number, no message, according to my call notes both were 7 seconds, both were silence. It is NOT the Sheriff's department I guarantee it.
For the record this no call list is a bunch of crap, because actually what it does is record your number, then companies buy the lists from what I understand
