Got the call/voice message this morning. Plan to call back to mess with them. Saw a funny youtube video where the person calling back hassled the scammer - when the scammer asked for his Social Security number he gave them a number off of a used target gift card and said "Oh, wait, I thought you said my gift card number! it will be cheap entertainment :).
This number called and I only got part of the message; it was a robo call and mentioned 'taking legal action'. When I called back I got a woman with a heavy Indian accept. I was on speaker phone as there was a lot of backgound noise of other operators (call center?) and I could also hear others speaking with a heavy accent. She said this was the IRS, that I was being sued by the IRS for tax evasion. Said the attempts to notify me by certified mail were returned. I felt this was shady - I have had no notices of any certified letters, so I hung up. Assume this could be a scam?
