They called me at 8:23am this morning on my cell. The lady identified herself as "Diana" and she asked if this was Rebecca. I said yes, she said could you verify your full name, address, birth date, and last 4 of your social security number. I said "Could you verify what company you are with and what this is in regards to?" she said she couldn't do that until she verified who I was. I asked her if there was another way to verify other than my social security number because I was uncomfortable giving that out without knowledge of who she was with". I was polite and she was too. She said I could give out the last 4 of my social security number. I told her if she could give me just the numerical part of my address or the first 3 of my social & verify who she works for, she stated she could not do that. I told her I wasn't handing out information without some verification but if she wanted to email me her company info and what she was referring about then gave her my email address. She hung up on me. I have not received an email yet, it's currently 9:47am. I did verify the number by doing a reverse search. I do owe several medical debts due to my cancer, roughly $10k still. I've been paying $25-$75 to various places, oncologist, hospital, radiologist, Coag Clinic, DLO, & hospital. I have talked to a bankruptcy attorney in a free initial assessment. Contrary to belief if you pay the creditors $20 or whatever you can they can still send it to a collection agency and/or even file a lawsuit. If the collection agency won't work with you and you have to see a judge, you can ask the courts for lower payments due to income/debt being a burden. Just don't ignore it. Certified letters are the best when trying to deal with creditors just in case you do end up in court.
Asked if I was Adam. Wanted my address, phone number and social. Wouldn't say what company but asked her name and she said Riley. I then said why do you need my number you called me.
