Robocall to cell phone on DNC. Calling looking for people without health insurance. Of course I pressed 1. LIkely fake and generic name of "Insurance Services". Pre-record asked me to press 3 if I was between 18 and 55 and made something like $15K - $45K, or press '7' to be put on the joke of a DNC list. So who cares if I fit those demographics, I press '3' anyway and anxiously await the poor sap whose time I'm going to squander. But the transfer fails with a "this number is no longer in service / goodbye" message from an Asterisk/FreePBX switch (not an actual telco not in service). And hangs up. So either they've blacklisted my number from previous encounters with me, or these people are complete idiots that can't run an decent telemarketing campaign.
A computer asked if I had a drug problem and if I would like to be connected to an agent.
I said yes (I do not have a drug problem) to be connected with the intent of asking to be removed from their list.
The computer hung up on me.
answered the call, and got no response.... I said hello like 4 times and then it hung up.. this is the 5th call this week like this, and they are all different numbers... what the hell is going on??
Alert! There are dialer systems out there that allow someone from a foreign country with a heavy accent to telemarket you in English with an accent you feel comfortable with. So, they call you, you say, hello, and they click a button on their computer screen that plays an intro message. Then they have a lot of other buttons with pre-recorded rebuttals they can press to respond to your response.
I always say something like "sure, tell me....what is 4+12? Most of them don't have numbers set up as a response so they can't answer you without coming on the line. Then they're busted! Another question you might ask is, "who is the father of our country?". Anyone who can't answer that or is too stupid to know the answer gets a hang up.
