wouldn't tell me what they wanted or who they were besides, a financial company! hung up and blocked their number!

CAC Financial.  They are debt collectors.

Long history of shady collection attempts on 800notes.  Occasionally outright scamming.

They are calling themselves CAC Financial, whatever that's supposed to be.
