They called my home phone stating they were from Legal Aid, my Grandson and his wife had been in an accident and he had a broken nose. They stated needed money to represent him.
My wife and I got a telephone call from this number; the man (Steve Harper) presented himself as a lawyer and that our grandson had been in a car accident and that a pregnant woman had been rushed to the hospital. Further that our grandson had a broken nose and was in jail! The man wanted $5,000 for bond for our grandson; then indicated he could get it reduced to $1,825. and would I be willing to pay that amount for the bond. He then indicated that once my grandson was released from jail that I would be refunded the bond money? I questioned this and he indicated that he would have my grandson call me within 5 minutes, of which he did. However, the person on the other line didn't sound like my grandson; so I asked him his sister's name and he immediately told me the phone was breaking up and that he couldn't hear me! We tried to call our grandson but he is in class at Clemson University, so this was to no avail. We believe this to be a scam!!!
