There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

A guy said his name was David Gray and called 2 times back to back and left voice mail messages.  claiming to be US Treasury.  i will contact my local police to notify them about this harassing call and their attempt to scam.

Seriously, are there people believing this trash?

Caller phoned my son's 87 year old grandmother and told her my son was in the county jail and needed bail money.  They told her that he didn't want us (parents) to know but needed her help to get him out of jail. Luckily, she called to tell us.  We confirmed that he is not in jail and she should not give them any money or information.  Horrible people exist in this world.
