They don't leave a message but my phone identifies the caller's number. It is not the first time. Please do something to stop them. I am on the DNC list.
Dept reduction agency selling to you to lower credit card dept. They call and and press 1 to speak to someone and with a strern voice told him that i was on the DNC list and if they would called back that i would get a lawyer. The guy had the audacity to tell me not to make idle threats and that i didn't know him from adam and to listin to him.. i didn't let him talk much and told him to listin to me. I don't make idle threats.. i keep logs and number and people time and day just for these type of people.
Just got a call from these jokers. I hit the 1 and the guy said he was from Card Services and that his name was Andrew. I asked him if this was a solicitation and he stated it wasn't. I asked again and he hung up on me. I reported him to the national do not call registry. Its a crime (which you can sue them in small claims court) if they don't tell you its a solicitation, give you a number to reach them, won't give them there full name etc.. 500.00 per. question depending on which state you live in. I'll be looking for them now.
So this person, BARBARA THOMPSON, has the audacity to send an automated call to my house telling me that it is "important" (per the caller ID) and is about reducing my debt and to press "1" to speak to a friendly representative. I press 1 to let the person know the level of my anger and guess what!!!! I got a recording saying that BARBARA THOMPSON was busy and to leave a message and she would return my call in 15 minutes........ I informed the message that I was reporting the individual and phone number to the Federal Trade Commission, National Consumer's League and the Better Business Bureau. I beg all of the individuals that have been subjected to this type of harrassment (yes it is harrassment) to flood the afore mentioned agencies with complaints against these types of calls. I have to remain hopeful that if enough of the populace follows thru with the complaint process for these agencies that the FEDS will wake up and do something, anything to protect the consumer versus allowing the vendors free rein to do anything and everything, including invading the privacy of your home, to get to your dollars. I am currently dealing with a scam that involves medical coverage (I was sold an INSURANCE POLICY THAT WAS REALLY A LIMITED BENEFIT PLAN BY NATIONAL BETTER LIVING [***]. abreviation done on purpose) and the process was done over the phone. Our phones have been hijacked by individuals with no scruples, conscience, remorse or values. For most of us phones are a necessary evil and the evil is compounded by the unsolicited use by scam artist.
It is a good question as to whether it does any good to report this to the Federal Trade Commission or the FCC. I have to hold on to the hope that with enough individuals filing a complaint the organizations would be forced to some sort of action plan. I personally am wondering if everyone would be willing to engage in a class action suit that would include not only this number but a whole slate of other numbers as well. Any ideas? Oh by the way you might consider reporting a complaint with the corresponding State Better Business Bureau and the National Consumer's League. I am sure they all are sick of seeing my name on complaint forms but tooooo bad.
