Called my cell for the 2nd time. Previously pushed #2 to be removed from the call list. This time pushed 1 to talk to somebody. I asked which car they were calling about, they said they didn't have that info. And then proceeded to tell them that its funny that they called because I didn't even have a car. He apoligized and said it must have been a mistake and I would be removed from the list. Yeah right!
Received a call from this # on my unlisted cell phone. My caller ID showed that the call is from Montana. As soon as I heard the recording, I knew it was a scam, but I stayed on the line to speak to a human being & see what kind of information I could get.
*It's definitely an extended auto warranty scam.* I spoke to some guy with a heavy Indian accent. He wouldn't give me his company name or contact information. He said his company is a "consumer protection warranty" company, basically a broker for "Warrantac" which is based in Florida. The extended 5 year warranty "covers everything" for the low, low price of $2248 -- BUT he can take $200 off the deal if I give him my credit card information today. He kept saying: "This deal is only good for today!" He got really frustrated that he couldn't close the sale.
Called my unlisted cell phone. Left a recorded message with a woman's voice that said this was my last chance to get an extended car warranty from them before they close the file. Called me at 3:30 pm today (EDT).
