The lady on the other line said she is doing a survey on behalf of associated press regarding political views. I asked the lady if its okay for me not to do the survey and she said its okay. No more calls after that.
3 phone calls in the last 3 days...Did not answer any of them..... No message left....I am registered with the DO NOT CAll LIST.....any comments on how to initialize a complaint against this harrasment?
They've really been on a tear for the past few days. I've had about 5 calls today, and 3 of those within the last couple hours.
I'm on the do-not-call list too. I went a-googlin' and this is what I found for calls that are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry:
1. calls from organizations with which you have an "established a business relationship" (within the past 18 months or up to 3 months from inquiry)
2. calls for which you have given prior written consent
3. calls by or on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations
4. calls by a telemarketer in which the telemarketer making the call has a personal relationship with recipient of the call (limited to families, friends, and acquaintances)
5. calls which are not commercial or do not include unsolicited advertisements
Here's what to do...Call your phone carrier and tell them that you are receiving "crank" fax calls.
That number of 406-720-2800 has probably been hijacked and is "war dialing" lots of phone numbers looking for fax machines to pick up. Someone has faking the DID (direct inward dial) sort of like a caller ID.
Tell your phone carrier the times and dates of the crank fax calls from this number so they can investigate and work to get it stopped for you.
Just got a call from this number, asking for the spouse. I told them the spouse was in bed, it is 10 PM here and who was it. Said a marketing poll, I told them to take my number off the list and not to call again. This is crazy and I think I will file a report tomorrow, calling this late on a weeknight.
