I answered and it was a home security company representative saying I won a free alarm system and all I would have to do is put a sign in my yard. I said no, but he kept talking so I had to just hang up.
These people have been calling me for months. One time the lady apologized for disturbing me and said she'd cross my number off their list so I'd never be bothered again, but of course THAT didn't happen. They called again twice today (5/10/11). The calls vary. Sometimes they say they're with " _______ (unintelligible) Home Security" and that I've "won" or "been selected for" a free home security evaluation. Sometimes the calls are disconnected as soon as I say hello, and sometimes they hang up after a few seconds of silence. I'd like to know the logic behind that. If you call them back you get a recorded message that tells you to press "1" if you want to be placed on THEIR no-call list. I've called them back three times over the last few months (the third time being today) and pressed "1" but it hasn't stopped them yet.
I am having these same issues with them calling up to 2X per day. When I called back, it said it was an unrecognizable number. How do you prevent them from calling again?
They just called me AGAIN (5/11/11) after I raised hell with them yesterday and told them AGAIN to put me on "THEIR" no-call list. This time the line disconnected as soon as I answered, so I called them back (AGAIN, because I'm desperate to make these calls stop). The recorded message said "thank you for calling back regarding one of our special promotions" and if I wanted to press "1" to be placed on their no-call list, it would take up to 72 hours for my number to be removed. That's the first time I've heard them mention a 72-hour wait. Do they even realize how ludicrous that sounds, that they're calling because the FBI has selected me to be notified that there have been a lot of break-ins in my area and they have a security system to protect me? That's the lamest telemarketing pitch I've ever heard. As for their other "special promotions," they can shove them where the sun doesn't shine. They need to LEAVE ME ALONE!!
keep getting calls from this number. I ignore because I'm as work, but I finally answered and a man said he was from a home security company but I couldn't hear him because my voice kept echoing in the background. It sounded like I was getting recorded---very shady. I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST so I'm not sure how they got my #.
