Received a call from 407-000-5824 stating they wanted to offer a better rate. Directed to push a number to talk to someone. When they asked if I wanted a better rate and I said no they had the wrong phone number the person hung up.
One of the techniques that gives you a sense of control is to accept the call but immediately put the call on "mute" and leave it alone. The call eventually will disconnect. Of course the main method is to make sure your phone number is on the do not call list. You can block unwanted calls on most phones using *60 if you have that service activated. That's what I did. Most of these telemarketers will not honor the "do not call" list. When you try to get them to identify themselves so that you could report them they just hang up.
