called saying there was no problem with my credit card, they just wanted to offer to refinance my mortgage at 6%. I've received this call before, but form another number. I pressed 9 to speak to a rep, cursed her out when she came on, and hung up. Immediately I got a call from "customer service" from a cell phone in Georgia, 404-895-5538. I didn't answer, and they called again, but I didn't answer.
Scammer initially called from ID W. Virginia Call 304-445-5940 recorded message asking press 9 if you want lower interest rates. Pressing 9 connects to a person who asks about our credit cards and if we want lower interest rates (again!) I went along with the questions, giving BS answers, of course. The caller wanted specific credit card information, including numbers so she could "verify" the accuracy of my answers and see if I "qualified" for lower interest rates. When I reminded her that the initial call claimed they were calling because I qualified, she answered with some vague response about their company representing many financial institutions. When I asked why they called when I am on the do not call list, she responded "we did not call you, you called us," which was their way of saying "you pressed 9, you idiot. You therefore called us." I responded with a nasty statement about liars and hung up. Within two minutes she called back on 407-219-5960 and said "we were disconnected." I explained again we are on the do not call list and asked her to remove my name from their calling list. She objected and I hung up again. The two numbers 304-445-5940 and 407-219-5960 are associated with the same scammers. Why isn't the original call requesting the receiver to press 9 considered a violation of the do-not-call list? Or is it?
This number called me today asking for Elizabeth (not my name, nor anyone in my family) I said you have the wrong number, he said really? Like he didn't believe me. I said yes really. He said Well have a good day Elizabeth (really snotty).
I wonder if someone made up a number either at a bar and gave it to him, and it happened to be my number. Or if Elizabeth had my number before (but I've had this number for almost 7 years).
Someone called my cell phone from 407-219-5960, asking me to sell my timeshare, 52 grand, I just needed to pay $999, to start the process. I declined the generous offer. Ha, ha.
