Got a call Wed. a.m. November 27/13 in ONTARIO, CANADA. We're dealing with 25 centimetres of snowfall up here peopl. A call from a dodgy outfit in Florida is just going to set off alarm bells if ya know what I mean. No one in Canada is stupid enought to give you their personal information. We're an educated population. BTW, I work for a government office that deals with cyber crime. Get stuffed.
Sounds much like my call but I never heard PCI. I also pressed 9 and said Wowee. You're my CC company and you're gonna lower my rates?" She hung up. I called back to tell them they missed a sale but "verification Vault" won't let me through without an account number.
10:30 am. from PCI... Two rings, picked it up, long pause..then a recorded voice said "Hi, this is Jonathan....." Because I have made my last 6 months payments on my credit card on time, I am eligible for a credit card rate reduction. I hung up. Same old scam, different scammers.
I hope people don't fall for this but because they keep trying it over and over, there must be people who do. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION! They are NOT your bank or credit card company. They will get you to give them your CC number and personal information and then before you even hang up, they have sold your credit card and personal info to an identity theft/credit card thief.

I don't think they are selling software. The phone number is probably spoofed (hijacked) by the scammers.
These are "hit and run" scammers...they make a thousands of calls over a couple of days using a faked caller ID and then before they can get caught, they pack up and disappear only to reappear with a new faked caller ID. Many times the number they hijacked phone number ends up with thousands of angry phone calls from people who think they are calling them. The option to be removed from their list is a dead end. It does nothing..it just disconnects the call.
