Got a call from these jokers for whatever I don't know. ID says East Orange as in Orange county FL. Thanks to my new Panasonic phone I can selectively block calls by the number, entire area code, no caller ID, etc.
Today they say they are US Health Insurance. Caller ID still says EASTORANGE. I let this lady start her spiel but its so flipping busy here today that I don't have time for this crap AGAIN. I get my point across to her. She apologized and then says she is Prospect America out of Fort Worth, TX. I explained to her how many times we have been asked to be taken off the call list. Very nice lady says she is taking our number to her supervisor to have our number removed. I hope this works because this call only adds insult to injury. The boss will never get us any health insurance. HE already has his own. And none of us can afford the unaffordable care act.
A woman from that number called asking form my wife - and told me it was about breast cancer. She started into her 'speel' - when I finally got her attention and told her that my wife had been dead for 3 1/2 years - she said 'no problem, we'll update our records'. There was no apology whatsoever. My recommendation is that no one do business with whoever the company is.

They asked for previous owner of my phone number. (I have had this number for 3 years) It turns out they are Corporations for Character, a "fundraising" organization that is notorious for giving a whopping 10 to 20% of funds raised to the actual charities. It's not even a non-profit, and your donation through them cannot be taken off taxable income. That's why I marked this a telemarketer.
They have this irritating computer program that replies, "I have the right number, just the wrong name," when you say they have the wrong number. Then it barges into their spiel.
Most of us past a certain age have a good friend we have lost to cancer. They prey on our emotions. I can only say if you want to give to a charity, give directly TO the charity. And if the amount cannot be taken off your taxes, that is a red flag.
