I take discover every day for 14 years now and recently did get a temporary one time use card from discover to run with no problems.
So why in the hell would they see the need to call me 3- times a day from different numbers if they are legit ......... Thank about it.

This call was a really professional sounding, woman- too professional sounding in my view. She said she was looking at our merchant profile and noticed we were not getting Discover Transactions being run through our Merchant Card Processing System. I played along with her and told her we are a B to B and our clients pay with corporate cards when they pay it is not with Discover. She said, oh yes, we keep trying to tell "them" to create a Discover Product for business. She then suggested that I run a "test" with a discovery card number to make sure "it's working". I told her NO. She then said, well they can send someone to your office with credentials to show they are with Discover and have them do the test. (We don't have a Credit Card terminal) I told her NO, we are not participating in her "Test". She offered to call back and speak to our CFO, saying they might understand her purpose. She said her name was Pamella Castille and left an 800 number. I then called Discover security and the young man there said, NO, they have nobody checking with Merchants as to why their card is not used and verified the number she left as Fraudulent. This must be the Scam of the Month. We get several calls with Discover on the CID and I have read several stories, similar to this.The CID said "Telaffects" but I bet they are not involved. Very American sounding woman. Keep Scammers away from your CC processing.
They called last week, and we looked up the phone number. Found it to be a scam. Told 'em "No! Not interested". They called back again this week ("Martha") with a different call-back number - 855-892-0473 ext 4229 - wanted to explain why it was necessary to run the test. NOTE: we already accept Discover, and have had no problems. Do not want to change providers. No idea why this test would be warranted. Do believe the posts that this is a scam.
This is legit! Someone by the name of Sheryl Bowers called me saying that she was the Discover Merchant Development Manager and that they have not seen transaction from my company in a while. However, when I checked by books, they were correct. I haven't gotten a Discover card in about 8 months and they verified to make sure the information that they had was correct. They asked me to run a test transaction and honestly I was not going to go through with it. I contacted my processor who then contacted Discover support and I got a call a week and a half later saying that it was perfectly safe. I honestly thought this was a scam but ny Merchant stated that It is just a test card to make sure that the cards can be accepted. I ran the test and they sent me a lot of free signage as well as they gave me the okay to visit the website and get as much free signage as I want. My Merchant Services stated that since the card that was being tested has a $0 balance/ no money on it, that it was okay to run it. It worked for me!

Same issus, Lady with a professional tone called asking to run a test under discovery in order t confirm that transactions are going through. Please be aware. .
