This caller is supposedly soliciting donations as the Fraternal Order of Police. This "FOP" group is in no way associated with the Actual Fraternal Order of Police, which is a labor union. They supposedly support the police departments BUT they are in no way associated with ANY police department. The National FOP does not recommend that their branches solicit donations over the phone. In fact, this group calls for donations and are fairly aggressive. They even apply that you can get "special protection" from the card they send you showing you have donated. In fact, they are nothing more than a telemarketing agency of paid people. Their money goes toward "Administrative expenses" including paying the telemarketer who is soliciting money from you. Since they get a stake of the take, they say anything and everything to get money from you.. They are implying that they are classified as a Charitable Organization so this gives them immunity from the Do not call list. Even though they are considered non-profit, in fact, they are just parasites riding on the coat tails of the police. They do quite well because most of us want to believe that they are supporting a good cause BUT don't be taken over by their scam. Ask the for an annual report if you want to see them get angry and frustrated. I don't make it a habit of donating to labor unions, but, if you want to help their causes, go to one of their charatible affairs or call them at their Union offices and get a list of the current Police Officers they are sponsoring and donate to their cause. BE CAREFUL! THE GROUP SOLICITING DONATIONS OVER THE PHONE IS NOT AFFIALIATED WITH THE REAL FOP. IF YOU WANT YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO GO NOWHERE, THEN LET THEM HAVE IT. Or better yet, Save your money for a worthwhile legal charity.

If you decide to do something for your local police, why not secretly buy lunch for an officer on duty. Random acts of kindness are a good investment - far bettet than giving it to these vultures.
