some one called without saying anything, I said hello and then they hung up. I called back they answered, bit did not say a word. Called again and they rejected the call.
This number has called the past 3 days around 8pm each night. It's a law office as said in other posts. When I asked why they were calling they said "We are trying to reach >insert my first and last name here<". I asked them what it was in regards to and their only answer was "It's a personal matter". I told them to leave a message next time and I'd be happy to pass on the information.
Called asking for name and last 4 # of social security. When I wouldn't answer their questions and asked who they were, they hung up. Called them back and girl was rude. I think they are scammers. BEWARE!!!!!
I got a call from this number claiming to be a law office and asked to speak to me and ask that I identify my date of birth and stated it. When I said yes, the call ended. I googled the number and saw other negative reports eith similar behaviors. I then called the number back and questioned the receptionist about hanging up on me and that I saw other scam report. I told her that I had called the police and will report again if I get another call.
Even if you called the police for real, it wouldn't help..What you need to do, now that the caller has your name and date of birth -- and possibly the last 4 digits of a credit/debit card of yours -- is to monitor all your cards' activity forever. Never ever give any personal information to any stranger who calls you. How do you know who you're talking to? Why did you believe it was a "law firm," and even if it was, why give a stranger personal info? The fact that you spoke with them, gave them information and even called back means you are probably on one of their preferred target lists now and you are likely to get more calls looking for more info to round out your identity, for the purpose of stealing it..You called the number even after reading reports of it being a scam? Please be careful.
