The easiest way to determine if the caller is with aetna is to get their full name and the department they are calling from, then call the member services number on the back of your Aetna ID card and ask them to transfer the call to that person. They should be able to connect you to that person.
The caller had information about a prescription I no longer take (as well as the pharmacy where I dropped the prescrption off). When I told her that, she excused herself and hung up quickly. Hhhmmmmm...
I received a call from this number today but they didn't leave a message. I also have been getting calls for the past week now (but no messages) daily from 866-782-2779 which is also Aetna Specialty Pharmacy.
It's NOT Aetna! They say that it is, but it's not. The lady said she was calling to refill a prescription for Selma. Then in her next few sentences she said the prescription was for Charlie. I am neither one of those names. I do have Aetna insurance, but they have my correct name and phone number on file. Do not answer these calls. It must be some kind of scam.
Aetna Specialty Pharmacy is for prescription for chronic diseases like MS or anti-rejection drugs etc. It is part of Aetna and they call every month to remind you to refill.
