Same as all the rest - called my cell once, no msg, hung up. Someone really needs to stop these A-holes. Maybe President Trump. (It's about his speed.)
***This is a very informative entry regarding ways to STOP UNWANTED CALLS from REACHING your PHONE. Please read this whole entry, especially if you feel you are not phone savvy. You will be glad you did!***
For everyone receiving unwanted calls, there's a way that you can prevent them from coming through to your phone, because they are never going to stop.
We all know by now that the Do Not Call Registry simply DOES NOT WORK; if anything that list is the perfect source of numbers for these people to use, even though obtained illegally. And by answering your phone, or calling the number back, this lets whoever is calling you to mark your number as a lead for them.
The safe practice these days is to ignore an unknown caller, wait to see if they leave a voicemail, then if it's suspicious you should check here to see if others have complained. If no voicemail is left, that's a major red flag. If a voicemail IS left, indeed listen to it and take action from there. Use your best judgement, and only if you are absolutely certain it is a legitimate caller, research that number a little further and then call back. In any other case, do not pursue that number any further and follow the steps below.
I do need to add this: installing an app from Google Play, Apple App Store, etc. is dangerous because you're potentially giving your private information and Identity to Phishers, or are installing Malware/Spyware on your phone. It is always best to use the security functions on your smartphone. Don't have a smartphone? Call your wireless carrier and ask what they can do. I do need to add this: installing an app from Google Play, Apple App Store, etc. is dangerous because you're potentially giving your private information and Identity to Phishers, or are installing Malware/Spyware on your phone. It is always best to use the higher security functions on your smartphone. Don't have a smartphone? Call your wireless carrier and ask what they can do. From what I know, in the very least, ALL the major US carriers have the capability to block specific numbers from calling you.
Some of the latest Android phones even allow you to block callers who block their number. I recommend doing a Google search for the phone you have, including the model or generation. Quick examples: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge; Iphone 6 Plus; HTC One M9; LG G4. Perform a Google search for "Blocking calls on my Galaxy S6 Edge". View more than just one article to see if there are more ways than one to stop these calls from coming through. Every phone manufacturer will have a different way to do this.
For HTC One users, the method HTC uses is effective yet a bit lengthy compared to others. Iphone and Samsung Galaxy models all have easier ways to block calls. The Galaxy S6, Edge, and Active have the usual feature of their more recent predecessors upon where you tap the unwanted call, bringing up an info screen, where you tap More, then tap "Add to Auto Reject List". On the S6 models Samsung has finally given the option to block all private/unknown numbers, which is what the majority of these unwanted callers will resort to when they cannot reach a person when their Caller ID appears. Either search your phone settings using keywords like "Block" and "Unknown", or do a Google search in the same manner (still entering your phone and model to the search) and you will find the steps to take to stop all blocked/unknown calls. Again, this is NOT a common feature on most phones, and currently Wireless Carriers do not have the ability to do so on their end... but that is slated to change very soon.
I know this is a long entry for this forum, but if you take the correct steps you will have much, less of these annoying unwanted calls.
Now remember, a lot of these callers will generate multitudes of numbers to call you from, and whenever this happens, always check here first to see if it indeed looks like an unwanted number, then just repeat the steps above to block each new unwanted number. Easy, effective, and doesn't need more than a minute of your day to forever block that number.
