At least two phone calls every day, the only calls I receive on my cell phone other than my family. Worriesome, aggravating. Apparently no one there when I pick up. Grrrrr !!
This number registered on my caller id as a cell phone number. Coincidentally, our home phone number has been hacked into. Someone, possibly this company based on the information I've gathered, has stolen our caller ID. We get angry people calling about 10 times daily saying "why did you call me; stop calling me". I explain that someone is using our "line". The calls show our home telephone number and our name which we have had for 20 years. Now, we are thinking of cancelling it just for this reason. Police and Cox say they cannot do much. At first they said they were RCI, then later revealed that they were from Spinnaker Resorts, and gave a web address.
HOWEVER, THE ONE THING THE POLICE TOLD ME TO DO IS ASK THE RECIPIENTS OF THE UNWANTED CALLS TO DIAL *57 immediately after receiving the unwanted call. Apparently, dialing *57 sends the actual caller's true information to the police department. A report is generated that can be picked up to find out the actual telephone number that is making these phony calls. That's where I am with this. All constructive input is welcome. I haven't gotten the report yet, but will soon.
I get a call from this number almost daily. I normally do not answer any of these, especially 407 area codes because we use to have a timeshare and it's usually something related to that. But, I started answering. . wanted to tell them to take me off the list. They always say they are from "RCI" and are calling about a vacation package. About three days into this, one guy just plain told me "We are not taking you off the list until you buy a vacation package". . . I said I would report the number, he hung up. It continues. Today I told a lady that I have been receiving calls daily from this number and she said "you couldn't be receiving them from this number" and hung up.
So, I'm reporting the number in any way I can. And, obviously, I will not answer anymore.
Maybe these telemarketers get credit for just having the phone connect when you answer. I get the call, answer, and no is on the other line. It just goes dead even when answering after one ring. Sure would be nice if they used DNC list.
