These people are bill collectors who fail to do their job. Our number belonged to a deadbeat who will go nameless from Lady Lake, FL. She and her husband must have run up some string of debts because after SEVEN years we still get calls for these losers. Asset Recovery Services is the name of these rotten excuses for human beings who don't bother to look up current phone numbers or to confirm that the numbers they still have are in the deadbeats name. I took two of these services to the Attorney General and they got diisciplined. These jerks call one more time and I will do the same to them.
Number formally belonged to two people.........name is known as they are asked for by name and told they have debt. Privacy Act violation. Feel sorry for them, but don't like to receive their calls on "my" number. Sure this is a debt collector. Not my debt. Business should confirm numbers before calling.
What everyone should know about the Federal Do Not Call List.
1. The DNC list is effective in reducing or eliminating calls from legitimate telemarketers - telemarketers who have registered with the FCC, and obtained the DNC list. The DNC list is NOT a call blocking service!
2. The DNC list is NOT intended to, nor can it do the following:
-- automatically block calls.
-- stop calls from:
--- Charities
--- politicians
--- survey companies
--- debt collectors
--- some companies with which you have a "business relationship" in the last 18 months.
--- NON registered "telemarketers" (they do not subscribe to the list, and do not care about the list)
--- telespammers, telescum, and other criminals (these people ignore the law)
3. The DNC list is for use by private phones, not business phones
The DNC does indeed work, and is quite effective, if you consider the above statements.
If you wish more protection than that afforded by the DNC provisions, obtain a call blocker device, phone or app. Google is your friend.
