On Friday evening, 1/29/11, at about 7 pm we received a call at our home from a 'Greg' who identified himself as working for Saving America's Energy Co. Greg explained that his company was doing free energy use evaluations which could help us reduce our energy usage by up to 50%. He explained that residents could avail themselves of stimulus funds of up to $3700 per resident through energy reduction measures incentivized through the government. He said the audit would take about 20 minutes. He only identified his company name when pressed for it and when asked if they had a website he said 'no'. Further, when we asked if there was a return number we could call him back on just in case we had to break the appointment, again the answer was 'no'. Nonetheless, we agreed to the appointment out of curiosity. The next day, Saturday, 1/30/11, we received a call from 'Jessica' from the number above (according to our caller id) confirming our appointment time for Monday, 1/31/11. No one from their company showed up today at the appointed time, nor called or left a voicemail to cancel or reschedule the appointment. It makes me wonder if there is a 'scam' and if so, is the 'scam' against our government by setting up 'fake' appointments which are never realized. I wonder what kind of measurement, evaluation and verification program the government is administering to ensure that taxpayer stimulus grant money is being used wisely.

After reading my post I realized there is a typo. The original call came into our home on Friday, 1/28/11, not 1/29 as stated in my original post. The follow-up call came into our home on Saturday, 1/29/11, not 1/30 as stated in my original post.
