I got a message from a "mike wallace" claiming to be with the FDA.I called him at this number and he was very courteous and advised me that I was the subject of a joint investigation by the fda and customs. They had intercepted a package addressed to me from a drug company outside the USA.This was an illegal transaction and I am facing federal charges. The long and the short is that if I paid a two thousand dollar fine and signed an affidavit that I would never do it again everything would be ok.He sounded as if he were reading from a script.Eveytime I interupted him he would pickup speaking a few words back from when I spoke. When I said it sounded like a scam he hung up. The FDA is in Maitland,Fl.which is near Orlando but this number is a cell phone number. When I called it back a woman answered FDA and then "transfered" me to the extension he gave(ext380).I tt Bob at the FDA he said it is a scam out of the Dominican Republic that uses cell numbers out of central Fl.
I am reporting this again. I got a call today from Special Agent Mike Wallace. He was a special agent with the usfda and wanted me to call him regarding an investigation in a pharmaceutical company. I tried calling them several times and no answer. Sounded strange that a federal agency wasn't open and they don't have a 1-800 number. Just ignore this is a total scam!!!!
I am reporting this as well. I received this call this AM (1-3-11) and spoke with Sp Agent Mike Wallace and Lt. Philip Serrano who gave me a badge number 0178-3. He said the FDA address in Orlando was 4769 Eleanor St. He explained that I was importing and exporting drugs from the Dominican Republic and with scare tactics he told me that they were going to come to my house and arrest me to take me to the DOminican Republic for trial. After my prodding he said he would go back to the Dominican Republic authorities and perhaps I could get off with a fine. AH-ha. I wish I knew who to call to prevent these people from using this scam on older people who would probably pay them off.
identical to the other notes. I called and reported this to the US Customs Hotline. Please do the same. They were terribly nasty and could easily intimidate an unsuspecting person.
They had all the bells and whistles in the background "walkie talkies..." Transfering you around to "higher ups".
